Recently, Mr Crumble's bakery has had some interesting "chew-like" marks noticed on the corners of the roof, balconies and windows.
Here is the number one suspect. Yes, Mr Nova, the building inspector! We also think he is not acting alone. He is often seen hanging around with Mr Kovu.
(Evidence of Mr Kovu seen sleeping on the property that has been damaged.)
(No Mr Nova, "big shoes to fill" is a figurative term, not a literal one.)
Upon questioning, Mr Nova admitted that he had caused the damages with the help of his brother, Mr Kovu. Mr Nova was extremely sorry and was willing to pay for the damage that had been done.
Mr Nova tried to imagine a life behind bars and it really scared him.
The thought of losing his job was really scary. Mr Nova loves what he does, and he cannot imagine a world where there are no dollhouses to inspect.
He also confided that the temptation of soft wood felt so incredible between his teeth, but he promised he would do much better in the future.I spent the afternoon with the cats, discussing possible solutions. I will have to have a talk with Builder Sam about this problem.
Generally the cats have good hearts, but sometimes their mischievous natures overcome them and they cause trouble. They are so adorable that it is hard to hold a grudge against them.
Cheerio,Isabelle
Ha! Love this post and love your beautiful (and mischievous) cats!
ReplyDeleteThank you Fox! Cats DO cause a lot of mischief, but they are so graceful and beautiful to watch.
DeleteI can't imagine a life behind bars for either of these two little Misters. Bless their precious paws. What a Super cute post! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth. I don't want to see them behind bars either - I really need the building inspector!
DeleteI love how you were able to negotiate with them! My cats often like to "move" a few of the dolls so they can nap amongst them!
ReplyDeleteThe trouble with cats, however, is that they agree to one thing but quite often forget later on! Hopefully we will see no more chew marks on any structure.
DeleteThat is really cute that your cats nap with the dolls too.
Haha...I too have a "building inspector"...an 18-pound (8 kg) tabby! He never tries to get into my builds (I think he knows he's too big), but he sure likes to play with them. For months, while I was working on the bungalow interior, he'd lie down on the roof (which lifts off and was on the floor at the time) and take a nap, use the shingles as a back scratcher, and even claw the shingles (he won't touch scratching posts). Miraculously, I've only had to re-glue about a dozen shingles.
ReplyDeleteSo far, Nova and Kovu have not used any of the shingled roofs for scratching. That would be really tragic and a lot of work. Sorry to hear that your cat likes to "help" you by clawing the shingles. The best cat scratching post we have ever found is from Top Cat products. It is a sisal post that the cats really use. (And we bought MANY of the pet store ones that the cats rejected). It is expensive, but worth it. In nine years, we have bought one post and one replacement. I totally recommend it.
DeleteOh what a lovely pair of "building inspectors" you have! I love the pictures of them on the house! It would be a shame to have to lock them up... the inspectors, not the houses, lol! But, alas cats do love to interfere with the miniatures! Maybe they need their own wooden box with chewable edges?
ReplyDeleteI wish you luck!
Oh thank you!
DeleteI bet that if builder Sam made the cats their own box, they would hate it! Cats are like that - very finicky! We will keep our eyes on them and see what happens.
And I have been told that cats sleep two thirds of their life. This is a very entertaining pair of adorable Misters. I'm hope no serious mischief caused.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Drora
Hi Drora. The cats DO sleep a lot, and they are quite entertaining when they are awake. There is only minimal damage at this time, but annoying to say the least.
DeleteGood to hear the negotioations with suspect No. 1 and No. 2 were that successful... well, it must have been helpful that Mr. Nova visualized how a life behind bars might be... - Thanks for this wonderful post, this gave me a very big smile on the face!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Birgit
Thank you Birgit. I am glad that this made you smile. Hugs.
DeleteLove this post! I hope your negotiations are successful.
ReplyDeleteThanks De! We will see how successful my negotiations were in the next few weeks. (Chew marks on houses are not very attractive!)
DeleteThis is the cutest post I've seen all day. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Farrah. You just made my day!
DeleteWell I am glad Isabelle that you gave them a good talking to! Cheeky little devils, fancy doing that after all the hard work that had been put in. However, in saying that, I did think it all made a very good story. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and Sam,
X
Hi Xanadu.Yes, the cats are cheeky little devils! (Actually, they're not so little!) But they are very soft to touch and have good hearts.
DeleteHugs back.
Hello Isabelle,
ReplyDeleteThat is what happens when you trust a pretty face.! Good help is so hard to find...but they are awfully pretty faces.
Big hug,
Giac
Thank you Giac! Yes, pretty faces, mischievous hearts! Gotta love them!
DeleteI love Mr. Nova's apologetic face!! Glad he is willing to work towards an amicable solution, though. It is SO hard to find building inspectors who have the availability that you need.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Chevy
Hi Chevy! Thanks for your comment. We will see over time whether Mr Nova's face was truly apologetic! I have a feeling he was just sorry we found out.
DeleteThat's some story! Well told too! I love the photos that go with it. Your cats are so beautiful!
ReplyDeletehugs♥,
Caroline
Thank you Caroline. I cannot help loving my cats even though they can be a nuisance some times.
DeleteOh my! This is such a cute story - I hope that your cats were suitably repentant :) I just found your blog through Xanadu's - and it is so wonderful! :)
ReplyDeleteCheers, Melinda
Welcome Melinda! Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful creatures!
ReplyDeleteLizzie xo
Thanks Lizzie! (I think so too!)
