Post-apocalyptic Barbieland fallout - Meet Sindy

Hi everybody!
The last post seemed to cause a little distress. A number of readers were very concerned about the welfare of Barbies due to the conversion of Barbie-land to Willow Ridge.
To reassure everyone, I invited Sindy, the realtor for the Middle doll community, to give you some information.
(You know, in hindsight, it would have been a lot smarter to have met at her office! I forgot how big the Middle dolls are!)
With a little creativity and the moving of furniture, we made it work.
I would like to introduce Sindy. She has been a resident of Oak Leaf for about 37 years! Sindy is one of the original "Barbie" sized dolls that remain from Builder Sam's childhood.
Hello!
(Geez, thanks Isabelle, now everyone knows I am the old lady around here!)
I look pretty good for a nearly forty year old doll huh? Anyway, I just want to assure you all that the Middle doll community still exists and continues to thrive! We have not been eliminated or packed away. "Barbie-land" was just an overflow town, created for play by human children.
Thank you all for being so concerned about our welfare! We have more than enough room for our homes and recreation.
Well, I hope this allays your fears as Willow Ridge begins its transformation.
Merry Christmas to all.
Cheerio,
Isabelle and Sindy

And The Walls Came Tumbling Down

Kinsey and I sent word out that a group of volunteers were needed to help with some home renovations.
A group of very muscular guys showed up.
Introducing – The Dream Team!
And what a good looking crew too!
After we explained what needed to be done, the guys began working. Nothing seemed too hard or too heavy for them!
And before you knew it, the walls came tumbling down.
The crew were quite well-trained in the art of improvisation. No ladder? No problem!
We may have to enforce a dress code in the future. Yes, plaster work is messy, but those bulging muscles are somewhat distracting! (I actually thought that Kinsey might pass out!)
The crew posed for a group photo, and Kinsey thanked everyone for all their hard work.
The guys said that they would be willing to help out in the future if we needed them. We may just take up their offer!

A Visit To The Doctor

Did you know that you are supposed to visit the doctor every year for a check up? I read it in a magazine and asked Bessie for clarification. She told me that an annual visit to the doctor is mandatory for good health, and so I called Dr Natalie and made an appointment.
Hmmm, I have not been to "visit" a doctor. Who visits a doctor? A visit implies a good time chatting and catching up. From what I remember, doctors usually poke and prod you, stick mean things into you, and make you eat and drink very strange pills and potions.
I found myself sitting in a doctor's office waiting patiently.
I was kind of dreading the appointment and was feeling rather apprehensive.
Dr Natalie was surprised to see me looking so glum. "Whatever is the matter, Isabelle? Are you nervous?"
Well, that had to be the understatement of the century! "Yes," I timidly answered and then I went on to explain how I don't even remember even seeing a doctor in many years. Make that many, many years.
"Don't be scared. Your health is very important, and by having an annual check up we can see how you are changing and growing."
Dr Natalie introduced me to her assistant, Julia. Dr Natalie has a very matter-of-fact personality. Professional, yet friendly. She explained everything she was going to do, and even let me examine the instruments before she used them.
I was examined from head to toe and Dr Natalie said that everything looked just fine.
Hmm, seems like this 'doctor visit' wasn't so bad after all!
Dr Natalie gave me a clean bill of health. Now I just need to sit back and wait for my immunization. Apparently I am due for a tetanus shot. Dr Natalie said that it would feel like a quick pinch. Shouldn't be too bad. Doctors wouldn't lie, right?

Cheerio, my friends,

Adventurer's Club - February

The theme for the Adventurer's Club photo challenge this month was 'Local Attraction'. Since winter has almost obliterated everything interesting around here, a quick trip to the local McMiniDonalds located in Barbietown was in order. (You have to admit, this restaurant is extremely well known!)
Yes, the 'Golden Arches' even exist in the doll world!

A Knock At The Door

Mr Arthur and I had an appointment today to look at some vacant properties. However, he called to cancel our plans as he had an emergency, and had to meet with his publisher.  Consequently, Kinsey and I decided that we were going to stay home and have a lazy pajama day.
That is when we heard a knock at the door. The question then is, should you answer it or ignore it? Luckily, I chose to answer it.
It is not everyday that you open the door and see two sets of muscular calves as big as tree trunks standing before you!
It turns out that it was the boys who helped move my office furniture. They told me that they had come across an old piano and was wondering if I wanted it.
Upon hearing the word "piano", Kinsey came running to the door.
"Hello, did I hear correctly? You have a piano?" Kinsey inquired.
"Yes, you heard correctly," the redhead clarified. Kinsey became very animated and was literally hopping up and down with excitement. "Oh yes, yes, YES! I WANT IT! I mean – Isabelle wants a piano!"
I have never seen Kinsey so excited about something. She told them to bring it in. I don't think I even said a word, but just stood back in amazement while Kinsey rearranged my house and gave directions!
The boys moved the heavy object with ease and put it in place without a scratch.
Kinsey thanked the boys and spent the afternoon cleaning and polishing the piano. Apparently she learned to play from a young age, and her doll-hood dream was to become a famous music teacher.
Kinsey played all afternoon. The living room was filled with the most wonderful melodies. It was incredible to watch her fingers dance around on the keyboard.
I'm telling you, this doll has wonderful talent! I hope that one day she fulfills her dream.

Isabelle

Box Opening

Yippee! Time to unpack and furnish my office!
I had enquired about some help, and Mr Crumble told me about two very strong fellows he had met in the Barbie community. Apparently these guys like lifting heavy things for dolls, and so I met them today. They said that moving my furniture should be very easy.

The man who shook my hand was extremely muscular but very gentle. (Much to my relief! My little digits disappeared into his calloused hand immediately.)
Within minutes, the duo were unpacking and carrying things inside.
It was rather fortunate that the windows have not been installed yet! The openings made it much easier to move the big items through the gap.
The stairs were very narrow for the Barbie-sized folk, but the guys seemed to manage quite well.
I am loving all of my furniture so far and it seems to fit perfectly!

I would never have been able to move these bookshelves by myself! These men really were incredibly strong.
This is the seating area. Don't you just love the leather and mission style couches?
And here is my desk! Pretty snazzy, eh?
Not exactly the social type, the boys did not stay for long. All of my furniture was unpacked and moved into place in less than half an hour. I thanked them for all of their help. Now it is up to me to put the final touches on this place and I can open for business!

Cheerio,
Isabelle.
