Come to the New Blog

Kinsey and Dr Zoe here again!
We want to let everyone know that Bessie says thank you for all the good wishes. Dr Zoe accompanied Bessie to the re-shelling hospital where she has settled quite comfortably. She will undergo a six month rehabilitation program.
Since I have been named the chief property manager, I am going to make a few changes around here. One of the very first things is this blog.
Dr Zoe and I have been talking about this, and we have decided that we should probably start a new community blog. It does not feel right to continue on with Isabelle's blog without her.
We decided to call our new blog "Urban Elves". Catchy title huh?
Join us over at urbanelves.blogspot.com

See you all there,
Bye from Kinsey

Bessie's Dilemma

Bessie had a medical check-up and received awful news.
Needing more information, Bessie organized a meeting with Dr Zoe and Fairy Hazel to see if Elven medicine could help her condition.
Bessie burst into tears and sobbed her heart out on Dr Zoe's shoulder.
"I have total Porcelainization," wailed Bessie.
Dr Zoe knew immediately that this was a fatal condition.
"Oh Bessie, I am so sorry," exclaimed Dr Zoe. "Let's talk with Fairy Hazel."
Fairy Hazel and Dr Zoe examined Bessie.
Her hands were cold and had lost all flexibility.
Dr Zoe checked Bessie's neck and shoulders. The Porcelainization was too far advanced for any kind of intervention.
Fairy Hazel explained how the disease was incurable even with Elven Medicine. The only treatment available was for Bessie to retire to a rocking chair and live peacefully on a porch for the rest  of her life.
Porcelainization is an inevitable part of being a dollhouse doll. One fall could cost you your life, and as you know, Bessie has been prone to falling over.  The rocking chair is the only safe solution to prevent breakage. Bessie blurted out that the inability to make tea and serve others was a fate worse than death.
Clearly this news was devastating. Both Dr Zoe and Fairy Hazel decided to tell her about one possible idea. It carried a great risk of failure, but Bessie said that she was willing to try anything. Fairy Hazel spoke about the controversial process of "Reshelling".
Bessie wanted to hear more about reshelling. It was explained that her personality and character would be transferred to a new body, but there were also some serious risks associated with this process. Bessie did not want to hear any, she had already made up her mind to do it, regardless of any risk.
Fairy Hazel and Dr Zoe said they would organize the details for the operation.
Bessie was informed that she would have to say goodbye to everyone she knew (just in case she never returns), and to sell everything she owned to pay for this process.
Bessie was resolute in her decision to try the reshelling thing. Selling her beloved tea shop would be a small price to pay for the chance of freedom.
Goodbye Bessie. Here's hoping for a good outcome.

Mystery Solved: Meet Hazel!

"Eyes are perfect! No more eye patches." Some of the most beautiful words spoken to me today by Dr Zoe. I don't have to be a pirate anymore!
I stopped by the new medical office to see how construction is going.
Dr Zoe was happy to show me around. First we looked at the ground floor pharmacy.
Then we headed upstairs to the reception area. . .
. . . as well as the waiting room.
While Dr Zoe was showing me her office I looked out the window and I could see Builder Sam's desk.
I could see the new house and I asked Dr Zoe if she knew anything about it.
Looking out the window Dr Zoe exclaimed, "Yes, that is Fairy Hazel's house."
"Who is Fairy Hazel?" I asked.
"Fairy Hazel is one of my mentors. I will introduce you if you like."
I never thought about the great Dr Zoe having a mentor. We walked over to meet her.
Hazel May is the first fairy that I have actually met. As per usual, I was speechless in her presence. I stupidly asked if she was coming to Oak Leaf Forest to live and she said 'yes'. (Why else would you have a house built here?)
Hazel is having this house built specially as she is just a little bit too big for the 1:12 scale properties. She started to show us the house.
"Crystal wings!" I inadvertently blurted out when she turned around.
"Why, yes!" said Hazel. "All fairies have wings. I have crystal ones."
"Oops, I'm sorry. I have never seen such beautiful wings up close before," I lamely said as I turned bright red.
"That's okay, dear," she said, giggling. We toured the cottage and marveled at the use of recycled materials.
Hazel has plans for a big stone fireplace so that she can roast marshmallows from the comfort of her couch. "The ideas you have for this house are absolutely wonderful!" I said.
Hazel May is extremely elegant and moves with such beautiful grace. I was totally enamored by her.
The highlight of our meeting (and the most dangerous!) was sitting on the roof looking at the view and chatting for a while.
Hazel is rather eloquent and a great listener. She is a wonderful mother figure.
Finally, the great mystery is solved!
Cheerio,
Isabelle

Birthday Card

It was Sam's birthday recently and she received a hand drawn card from one of her children. How amazing is it? It has all of us Fairyland folk on the front with one of Sam's favourite chocolate bars. I can see Rosalie on top, Dr Zoe and Luka on the left, and Kinsey and I on the right. I think we look rather cute as manga characters!

Meeting the Doctors

Hi everyone, I'm back.
I have been away at a conference. (Property manager stuff, nothing very exciting). A big thank you to Kinsey, who has been keeping the office running smoothly, and to Luka for his blog posts.
My first appointment today was with Dr Natalie. She walked through the door and said, "I have a surprise for you."
"Isabelle, I would like you to meet Dr Zoe."
I could not believe my eyes! Dr Zoe is one of the best Elven Healers in the world, and here she was standing in my office!
I was star-struck and managed to mumble a feeble, "Welcome to Oak Leaf Forest."
I was so in awe that I stupidly offered my left hand for her to shake. Being ever so gracious, Dr Zoe did just the same. We both laughed.
Dr Natalie explained that  she is not well versed in Elven medicine and thought that it might be wise to have a Healer on staff. Dr Zoe was very happy to be working in collaboration with Dr Natalie, and should be in the clinic once a week. This is the most exciting news I have heard in a long time! We sat down and began working out the details for a suitable office.
The doctors want a newer, town house-style office with old-fashioned charm.
They are well aware that they will need to do renovations to whatever kind of building they buy. (That seems to be a familiar trend around here. Everything seems to need renovating!)
The most modern building I currently have on file is the Princess Anne dollhouse. I showed the doctors some of the construction pictures and told them that the builder would be able to add more square footage.
(Mr Nova, the supervisor, was sleeping on the job as usual!)
They seemed quite excited, so we went out and looked at it in person. As I suspected, both Dr Natalie and Dr Zoe loved it. They also agreed that an extension would be a great idea.
We went back to the office to talk about additional upgrades and to enjoy a cup of coffee.
I asked Dr Zoe if I could pose in a photograph with her. She happily agreed.
I can hardly believe that Dr Zoe will be working in Oak Leaf. How exciting!
Cheerio,
Isabelle
