The Kinsey Blues

Kinsey has been looking rather depressed lately.
"What's the matter Kinsey?" I asked.
"Nothing," was the reply.
Now as everyone out there knows, when a female says 'nothing' it really means 'everything'.
I made some coffee, grabbed some cookies, and I told Kinsey that we were going to have a good chat.
Kinsey told me that she is feeling down about her living conditions. Although she is very grateful for having somewhere to sleep, this is not her home. What makes it worse is that she actually owns a house, but cannot live there right now.
Kinsey lamented that the renovations are taking way too long and Builder Sam is nowhere to be seen.
Actually, I know why.
Sam has been spending a lot of time with her mother who is visiting from Australia. Judging by the amount of DVDs lying around, I know that they have been watching a lot of movies.
Hmm, looks like Ewan McGregor is in a lot of those movies. I must say, he is rather handsome – for a human!
I told Kinsey that I would pull a few strings to get things moving along with her house, and that seemed to cheer her up. Now I just need to get busy and find some willing volunteers.

A Knock At The Door

Mr Arthur and I had an appointment today to look at some vacant properties. However, he called to cancel our plans as he had an emergency, and had to meet with his publisher.  Consequently, Kinsey and I decided that we were going to stay home and have a lazy pajama day.
That is when we heard a knock at the door. The question then is, should you answer it or ignore it? Luckily, I chose to answer it.
It is not everyday that you open the door and see two sets of muscular calves as big as tree trunks standing before you!
It turns out that it was the boys who helped move my office furniture. They told me that they had come across an old piano and was wondering if I wanted it.
Upon hearing the word "piano", Kinsey came running to the door.
"Hello, did I hear correctly? You have a piano?" Kinsey inquired.
"Yes, you heard correctly," the redhead clarified. Kinsey became very animated and was literally hopping up and down with excitement. "Oh yes, yes, YES! I WANT IT! I mean – Isabelle wants a piano!"
I have never seen Kinsey so excited about something. She told them to bring it in. I don't think I even said a word, but just stood back in amazement while Kinsey rearranged my house and gave directions!
The boys moved the heavy object with ease and put it in place without a scratch.
Kinsey thanked the boys and spent the afternoon cleaning and polishing the piano. Apparently she learned to play from a young age, and her doll-hood dream was to become a famous music teacher.
Kinsey played all afternoon. The living room was filled with the most wonderful melodies. It was incredible to watch her fingers dance around on the keyboard.
I'm telling you, this doll has wonderful talent! I hope that one day she fulfills her dream.

A Letter From Luka

Good news - I have completed my exams and now I am a certified realtor.

Bad news - Kinsey gave me a letter.

Let's start from the beginning.
I made breakfast for Kinsey and myself, since this was my first day of freedom - no more school!
Kinsey came to the kitchen carrying a letter and said, "By the way, I forgot to give this to you. It is from Luka."
"Luka?" I enquired, thinking it might be her husband or brother.
"Luka Darjeeling, your gardener."
"My gardener? I don't have a gardener!"
I read the letter from Luka. It said that his belongings were being held up in customs, and as soon as they were cleared, that he would arrive. Should be about three weeks.
I was very confused. Kinsey explained it to me, "Luka and I were both in an advanced work program for those dolls that are not adopted by humans. It guarantees a six month work experience with a sponsored employer. You, Isabelle, are our sponsor and employer!"
I was speechless. How on earth was I going to explain all these charges on Sam's credit card?
Kinsey noticed the horrified look on my face. "Something is wrong. What is it?. . .You don't want us anymore?"
I snapped out of my fog, "Oh no Kinsey, you are very talented and great at what you do,  I am just trying to figure out a way of letting my human know that you are here, and now I find out there is also another doll coming. How many workers have I ordered?"
"Just the two of us, as far as I know."
From now on, I need to be very careful which websites I look at, and what things I click on. Just pushing a button can dramatically change your life!
"Now what am  I going to do?" I wondered aloud.
"Oh that is easy," said Kinsey. "Part of my job entails smoothing out interactions between bosses and clients. Most bosses are clueless when it comes to interactions between people, and so the secretary is an expert in that field. Let's see. I need my computer.  . . ."
Kinsey pulled out her laptop. "What does your human, Sam, like?"
"She loves dolls, dollhouses, chocolate–"
"That's it!" Kinsey butted in before I could say another word.
"What's it?"
"Chocolate. It is the one substance that solves many problems. It contains chemicals that cause the human brain to forgive, forget, and fall in love. It is very powerful and must be used carefully.
What kind of chocolate lover is she? White, Dark or Milk?"
I laughed. "Really? All it takes is some chocolate? I really don't think the solution is that simple."
"White, Dark or Milk?" Kinsey insisted.
"Hmm, definitely milk."
"Perfect," Kinsey said. "We should order some Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate from Australia. Does she like the plain, soft center, or the candy type?"
"Not sure. I didn't realize that there were different types." I said. Kinsey obviously knows a lot of detail about something I thought was rather simple.
"Well, we will order a variety then." she said, and within a few minutes she had ordered and rush-shipped some delectable gifts for Sam.
"Now, once it arrives, all we need to do is set up a meeting with your human."
Not sure how Sam is going to react. We will see.  (I think I really like having my own personal assistant!)

Pizza again!

On the way home, Kinsey and I stopped to pick up a pizza. Let me tell you, it was pretty embarrassing when the guy behind the counter winked and said, "For Isabelle, right?" (Truth be told, I blame it on my studies!) In my defense, it is hard to think of some decent healthy meals when you are trying to focus on homework. I am almost done, so hopefully I will eat better soon.
After a quick tour of my house, Kinsey asked if I just moved in, and I told her that I have lived here for quite a while.
She was surprised at how bare the walls, floors, and shelves were. I looked around and came to the realization that I really have not made this house my home. I only sleep here as I spend most of my time at school or at the office.
I told her that I am only renting, but at least I have some couches! We both laughed and dug into the pizza.
After dinner, I began making up a bed for Kinsey. She was quite happy to sleep on the living room floor. (Actually, I think she is too exhausted to really care at this point!) It is too bad that I don't have a guest room.
Kinsey's comments rattled around in my head. This place really is kind of barren. Maybe the time has come for me to find myself a real home.
Kinsey likes things neat and tidy, and was eager to clean up after dinner. (It might be good to have a neat freak around!)
Poor Kinsey. She does not have any luggage as it got lost in transit. The airlines have assured her that as soon as it is located they will call her. She has been waiting for her cell phone to ring all day. Maybe tomorrow they will find it. Fortunately Kinsey was smart enough to carry a few necessities in her hand luggage that will tide her over for the next twenty-four hours.
We chatted for a little while and then I realized that it was getting late. We were both very tired so I said "good night," and headed upstairs. My last exam is tomorrow, and then I will be free!

Welcome to My Humble Abode

Hello friends!  Welcome to my new rental home.
It's getting rather late, but come on in, and I will show you around!
This is the kitchen. It is so lovely and modern, with a tile backsplash and a dishwasher. Snazzy!
Next, we have the living room. It has two built-in bookcases, and a wood burning fireplace. I just might have to have some friends over and roast marshmallows. I probably need to do some furniture shopping first!
Now up the stairs we go.
To the blue bedroom!
Although the bed is bouncy and very comfortable, I'm not loving the blue floral pattern! Clearly Blanche wanted the drapes to match. Sigh.
But I shouldn't complain. It's a lot better than sleeping in the camper van!
All right, here we come to the bathroom.
Once again, the floral motif is not to my liking. But renters cannot be too choosy.
Okay folks, that was the grand tour. Thanks for coming along. But for now – yawn – I'm going to head off to bed. I must say goodbye now, because a girl needs some privacy.

Now for a relaxing soak in the tub.
Ahhhh. This is the life.
