Luka's House Update - part 1

Hi everyone! It's me, Luka again.

I spoke to Isabelle last night and she told me that while she is away, I should do an update of my house. I don't know why, as it looks absolutely horrid. Everything is in a state of chaos at the moment, but I will show you anyway. Might be helpful to someone contemplating renovations.
The coach lights had to be removed as the wiring went around and through the front door. I guess that is why the front door was not attached. Too much risk of being electrocuted!
There were a few problems found during the inspection. You remember that wonderful addition? Well it has to be pulled down and replaced. It turns out that it was all built from Balsa wood.
The floor of the kitchen turned out to be a block of styrofoam covered with fake brick.
You see the 'little' crack in the kitchen ceiling? Turns out that it is a major floor joist issue. Apparently, the whole story above could come crashing down at any moment. And considering that I want to put a billiard table on the second floor, I think it would be wise to replace it.
All of the ugly wallpapers came down fairly easily.
However, the old carpets proved to be a lot more of a challenge. They must have been glued down with some kind of super glue as they resisted every known method of removal.
But sheer willpower and strength got rid of them!
On the second story we had similar problems, but the work is still ongoing and getting done.
I can tell you that it is so good to see the pink carpet go! I am not a fan of pink.
The attic will become my new bedroom and we are planning on adding a door in this wall, and a balcony over the new addition.
That's all for my home renovation update! Still a lot of work to do, but it is getting there.
See you later,
Luka

  4. You made a lot of progress with your house... and I can truly understand your relief about getting rid of the pink carpet. The first steps are done although there were many nasty surprises waiting for you. But after more hard work your house will become a very lovely home for sure.

    Greetings

  5. Oh my Luka, what a ruddy mess!! But there are some houses that really need to be stripped back to the bones and from now on there's only room for improvement. Knowing Sam, she'll get stuck right in and make you a really beautiful home to live in. :)
    Hugs,

  7. Wow, Luka, what a lot of work you have done! In the end, I think you will be happy you took it down to the bare bones and are making good structural changes. Can't wait to see the finished product. I bet it will be something to be really proud of in the end!
